"Riot Grrrl arose out of the punk and alternative rock subculture in the US in the early 1990s. This was a network of womyn who "were tired of being written out-of history, out of the 'scene,' out of our bodies" (riot grrrl zine #3) 

Why bring back the riot? 

We are Riot Grrrls. 
We want to externalize our definition of feminism in the face of a counter culture that is not directly addressing or even ignoring sexism, rape, patriarchy or sexuality. We want to deconstruct and redefine what it means to be a womyn for ourselves. We want to pave a path for the next generation of womyn to freely express their true, highest selves without the dark cloud of oppression. 

This is the first of many LB Riot Grrrl events! This is a FREE, ALL-AGES event! Please be respectful of this, the space, and the intention of this event! 

Donations to LB Riot Grrrl and the bands are welcomed! We are trying to raise money to put on future shows, workshops, etc., and make the Riot Grrrl movement known to Long Beach.
